The first Science meets Business Plan Competition was a great success. The evening featured pitches from five enthusiastic start-ups, drinks with pizza and a big celebration of the two winners. We thank all our partners for supporting this great event.
All five participating start-ups were able to impress both the jury and the audience. The professional jury judged the start-ups based on their business plans and pitches. After a small discussion the winner was selected. The winner of the Grand Prize of the 2015 Science Meets Business Plan Competition 2015 was Idris Solutions. They are developing a technology in the field of micrometer scale 3D printing, that could be used to advance biotech research. Their great potential and well-defined business plan made them the absolute winners of this competition. This earned them a €1000,- and 21 hours of professional consult by Grant Thornton, TeekensKarstens and the Rabobank.
The audience was most impressed by Code University and their stunning pitch. Code University was able to best convey the message about their product that enables primary pupils to learn programming. n doing this they earned the Luris Audience Award worth €250,-. Luris is the knowledge exchange office for Leiden University and Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC).
The other start-ups (Buxenus, Infinese and Stellar Space Industries) also did a great job and got some good feedback on their presentations and business plans by the jury.
We wish all start-ups success in their development and we hope to see everyone next year!
